One thing that there is no shortage of during the Black Friday 2010 sales is TV deals, but which one is best for you.
Listing all the models, sizes and prices is the easy but you need to know what you are looking for
Screen Size – don’t just buy the biggest TV and hope that is ok, measure how much distance there will be from the TV screen to your seating. If it is only 6 or 7 feet the a 50 inch TV will be so large that it will over power you. Watching TV is supposed to be fun, not give you the feeling that the TV is coming to eat you.
Refresh Rate – 60hz is the lowest you should consider and in a 40 inch TV anything less than a 120hz refresh rate will seem very, very sluggish.
DPI - If you are getting a 40 inch TV or larger then you should look at a 1080dpi set, if you are only getting a 32 inch one then you should be ok with a 720.

40 inch westinghouse 1080 LCD HD TV for $298
It is actually cheaper than the 32 inch TV that is in the same advert. If you are trying to find a TV deal on black Friday that beats all the rest I think Target have just provided that.

46 Inch TV for $449
Admittedly $449 is a lot more than $298 but if an extra 6 inches will matter in your life then this may be the right TV for you.
Best Buy 50 Inch TV $699
Best Buy – Panasonic 50 inch TV for a penny shy of $700 , again a pretty amazing deal, but is that 10 inches worth more than double the cost?
The only way I can see that you will be able to find a better TV on sale during the day after Thanksgiving sales is if the Walmart day after thanksgiving ads pull out all the stops and go crazy just so they can beat Target. As soon as the Walmart offers are available I will update this page to show it.
The other place to watch out for is the Amazon deals, sure you can’t take the TV home and watch it there and then but you also don’t have to line up in the cold.
I normally shy away from recommending anyone buy a TV during the Black Friday Sale as the numbers are normally very limited and lining up for a few hours just to find they have sold out can be very disappointing to say the least.
This year is clearly going to be different. You can get a 40 inch TV and a Sony internet ready blu ray player for $400 which is less than you would pay for just the TV shown here normally. That is a crazy TV deal on black Friday.
I am off to start emptying out the penny jars.

I am looking at some of the adverts and word on the street (ok forums) and the general consensus seems to be that it is going to be a crazy time for toys.
Walmart,kmart and Toys r Us have already released their Christmas toy books. Not all of the “sales” are really sales at all. In fact some of them are dearer than they were in the normal sales.
One thing you could do is give the books to the kids, then sit down on Thanksgiving Day (after they are all in bed) and compare the notes with the sales and see what is going to be on offer. The kids still get the toys they like and you save some money.
I will never forget the lines in the toy isles during the black Friday 2009 sales , both at Target and at Kmart. I think the 2010 thanksgiving sales will see longer lines and more empty toy isles than either of the last 2 years.
The economy has still not really recovered but people are tired of saying no to their kids so this year will be a big one!

I don’t know about you but our house is watching less and less TV at the time it was originally broadcast. We look for it online or find when it is being reshown, many of the programs come on right during kids bedtime and I really don’t want my toddler watching Dr Who or the new Hawaii 5 O .
So we have been looking into getting a blu ray player with internet connection, we can then watch stuff from Hulu,YouTube and netflix (and probably more places as they become available) on our TV as it suits. We are waiting for the day after thanksgiving sales as I think we will see some real bargains in the blu ray player and TV’s so big they won’t fit in your door isle at best buy and walmart this year
Why would I want to pay for Hulu and netflix when I also pay for cable..well that is another post altogether..
I found out that Sony are now doing a blu ray player with Google TV build in..
Will the Sony blu ray player be on sale during this years black friday sales?
I don’t think so and I will tell you why, it is just too new..
I imagine that they will do a small discount but not the door busters that we have come to expect during the day after thanksgiving sales.
So if you are looking to buy the Google TV Blu Ray player from Sony I think you will have to pay full price, or very close to it this year.

A wise man once told me you can either spend time or money. This is also true during the day after thanksgiving 2010 sales, you can either spend time driving all round town in the hope of saving a few dollars as you move from store to store..
or
You can save time and buy online! I am not talking about what is now known as cyber Monday. I mean get up on the last Friday in November turn on the pc and place your orders online. You won’t ever have to leave home and in most cases you won’t pay that much more.
Sure you may not get exactly the same deal that you would in store but think of shopping in the warm instead of lining up for hours and freezing! The other downside is that you will have to wait for a while to get the items, they will either do direct to store so you can go and pick it up after the holiday sales madness has finished or you can have it delivered to your home.
Shopping from home can really save you time and sometimes that is more valuable than money..
Only sometimes though..
