Amazon Kindle Fire

The kindle may have started life off as a book reader but with the Amazon Kindle Fire it has grown into much more than just a place to read books.

Not only does the new kindle have a full color screen it has its own operating system. By using the Google Android operating system to power the Amazon Tablet they have given it a good base and then they added a simple to use and ituitive interface.

Kindle Fire is so advanced in comparison to the other Amazon kindles that it is almost a different product altogether. If you have been looking at a Ipad2 or even a netbook but found they are to expensive then this may be the best bet for your pocketbook.

For $199 you not only get the features that you need, you also get a month of access to Amazom Prime. From a usability point of view I think they have found the sweet spot between price, usability and weight. I have tried to hold an Apple Ipad with one hand and it nearly broke my wrist, the Kindle Fire is so light that you can easily hold it on one hand while you read the screen.

I know people talk about how big their memory is on their pc, but this is not a pc and since it can hold around 700+ songs and something crazy like 5k books I think that is enough to keep me busy for a while.

They say the battery lasts for 8 hours of reading or 7 and a bit hours of video, I find it surprising that it lasts that long on video. I haven't tested it out yet so I can't comment if the Kindle Fire battery life really is that long. I am sure that like anything some people will say theirs lasts a lot less while others will find they can make it last longer.

I think we may finally be seeing a machine that will give the Ipad a run for its money and while I like the ipad I do think that competition is good and so far the Xoom and Playbook have not given an ounce of competition worth talking about.
